This project, which did not go ahead in the end, was based on an exhibition concept with four main habitats: the Laurissilva, Sanctuaries, Planet Ocean, and the Deep Ocean. A greenhouse supported by laminated wooden porticoes was to house the Laurissilva – a habitat that is unique to Madeira and was to be lit by natural light. The other three were contained inside an opaque structure covered in serigraphed glass, with drawings by Fernanda Fragateiro. The final design was worked out in partnership with the American firm Lyons Zaremba.
