The Camões Theatre, was designed as part of the Expo’98 site. The building containing the stage is covered in blue metallic sheeting – a material that characterises the Theatre. The white concrete blocks which line the base of the blue stage are a continuation of the material that is used for the ground surface outside the building, thereby “cementing” the building to the ground. The foyer opens up into a wide, glassed entrance onto the River Tagus. The auditorium seats 1,000 people.
We have recently designed the extension of the original building to house the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra (OSP).
