The project purpose was to design a set of apartments on a plot of land next to the Barbadinhos Convent.
The plot’s shape, deep and narrow, the sun exposure and the opportunity of panoramic views to the river Tagus led us to plan a row of seven individual apartments.
The pedestrian access, from Calçada dos Barbadinhos, to each apartment is possible from a private, thin path parallel to the Convent.
This row of individual housing contains five four-bedroom flats and two two-bedroom flats. The biggest apartments have four floors. The other apartments have three flours with a similar spatial organization as the bigger ones.
The final architectural solution brought up the idea of the old functional system of some Lisbon’s working class quarters hidden from public roads.
