Rua da União

Two different-sized plazas help dynamise the intervention area. To the east, a tree-filled circular plaza closes the great pedestrian route, smoothing the transition between this and Rua Lavoisier and also defining a new centrality in a space that has leisure and recreational potential. In Largo Alexandre Herculano, a new framework for the old gateway into the industrial estate will give new meaning to the entrance of this new space.
This boulevard will offer a new reading of the buildings in the quarter of Santa Barbara and Alfredo da Silva House-Museum, including them in an urbanised context with a contemporary design, continuing on from the historic city.
